How StellrCloud works

A clear explanation of the Secure ID model, lifetimes, access configurations, utility policies, storage credits, subscription plans, and the mechanics behind every protected upload.

01 Overview

StellrCloud is a protected storage and transmission layer. You upload a file, define the rules that govern it, and receive a Secure ID. That ID is the only path to the content. Without it, access is mathematically impossible.

Everything else - lifetime, retrieval limits, confirmation screens, timeouts, utility policies, optional 2FA, and storage capacity - is configured or consumed at upload time. Capacity is either pay-as-you-go or provided by a monthly subscription plan with reclaimable storage.

02 The Process

Every upload follows the same three-step path.

Step 01

Upload

Drop files into the protected client. Defaults for lifetime are applied automatically. Storage capacity is consumed at this stage.

Step 02

Configure

Set lifetime, retrieval count, timeouts, confirmation screens, utility policies, and 2FA as needed.

Step 03

Copy Secure ID

Receive the generated Secure ID. Store it safely - it is the only path to the content.

03 Secure ID

The Secure ID is the sole cryptographic key to an upload. Possession of the ID is required for any access attempt. Without it, decryption is mathematically impossible.

All other controls (lifetime, retrieval limits, confirmation screens, timeouts, utility policies, 2FA) apply independently of who holds the ID. The ID grants the right to attempt access - the configurations determine whether that attempt succeeds and under what conditions.

04 Lifetimes & Defaults

Every upload has a lifetime. When it ends, the content becomes inaccessible and the object is retired.

Default lifetime
1 year

Applied automatically unless you configure otherwise.

After expiry
Inaccessible

Access is revoked and the object is retired. Whether capacity returns to your balance depends on your plan.

The clock starts when the upload is finalized. You can set shorter or longer windows as needed. On subscription plans, capacity consumed by an upload can be reclaimed and reused after that upload’s lifetime ends.

05 Configurations

Beyond lifetime and Secure ID, every upload can carry fine-grained access rules. These are set at upload time and enforced for the full lifetime.

Confirmation screens

Pre-access gates that appear before content can be unlocked. Use them to filter who is supposed to proceed. Configured per upload and travels with the object.

Retrieval count

A hard ceiling on the number of successful retrievals. Once reached, further retrievals are blocked, but the object remains until its lifetime ends.

Timeouts

Limit how long retrieval information remains visible in a session (seconds or minutes). When the window closes, the user is booted.

These controls are independent. Use one, two, or all three on the same upload. They stack cleanly with utility policies and 2FA.

06 Utility Policies

When configuring an upload you can define its utilities - explicit expectations about how the content is intended to be used.

These are not decorative labels. They travel with the object and make the permitted uses clear to anyone who holds the Secure ID: review only, derivative work, internal distribution, archival, etc.

07 Access 2FA

Optional email-based approval. Even with a valid Secure ID, the content remains locked until you explicitly approve the access attempt.

08 Storage & Plans

StellrCloud offers two ways to hold capacity: a default pay-as-you-go model, or a monthly subscription plan with reclaimable storage.

Default for new accounts

Pay-as-you-go

New accounts start on pay-as-you-go. You purchase capacity as needed. Capacity is consumed when you upload and is not returned when an upload’s lifetime ends - you cannot reuse that memory.

Replenishment rate
$0.035 / GB

One-time surcharge to add capacity.

Purchase range
15 GB – 30 TB

Minimum 15 GB · maximum 30 TB per purchase.

Once capacity is used by an upload, it stays committed for that object’s lifetime and is not recycled afterward. To keep uploading after your balance is exhausted, re-up capacity at $0.035/GB.

Subscription plans

Monthly plans grant a fixed capacity allotment. When an upload’s lifetime ends, the storage it used can be reclaimed and made available again on your account - no permanent loss of unused or expired capacity.

Fruitful
150 GB

per month

Monthly allotment of 150 GB. Reclaimed storage is reusable after each lifetime ends.

Sweet Spot
500 GB

per month

Monthly allotment of 500 GB. Reclaimed storage is reusable after each lifetime ends.

Next Level
1 TB

per month

Monthly allotment of 1 TB. Reclaimed storage is reusable after each lifetime ends.

How reclaims work

On Fruitful, Sweet Spot, and Next Level, capacity tied to an upload is eligible for reclaim when that upload’s lifetime ends. Once reclaimed, the capacity returns to your available balance and can be used for new uploads.

On pay-as-you-go, there is no reclaim: capacity spent at upload is permanent for that account’s balance. Subscription plans are the only path to reusable memory after lifetimes complete.

Going over plan capacity

If an upload would exceed your plan’s monthly allotment, you can still complete it by paying for the additional storage used by that upload (at the same $0.035/GB rate).

That payment covers only the overage for that specific upload. It is not added to your plan balance and does not increase your monthly capacity. After the upload’s lifetime ends, only the portion that was within your plan allotment is eligible for reclaim; the paid overage is not returned to your balance.

In short: new accounts default to pay-as-you-go (buy capacity, no reuse after lifetime). Subscribe to Fruitful, Sweet Spot, or Next Level for a monthly allotment with reclaimable, reusable storage. Over-plan usage can be paid per upload, but that surcharge does not credit your balance.
